Yellow passion fruit is one variety of Passiflora edulis which is a genus of PasifloraThis species of passion flower is native to Brazil.

The puree can be used as a base for  smoothies, sauces, jams or pie fillings and passion fruit ice cream.

You can also add water to the pulp and squeeze it through a piece of cheesecloth to extract the juice. The add some more water, sweeten to taste and serve over ice.

Because the fruit is tart, it is a great ingredient for cocktails. 

Passion Fruit Iced Tea

You will need just 4 ingredients to make passion fruit iced tea.

4 cups of hot water

14 oz of passion fruit pulp 

2 tsps of black tea or 1 teabag

2 tsps lime juice

  • Thaw frozen pulp
  • Brew tea for about 3 minutes 
  • Strain and set to cool
  • Add melted fruit pulp to tea
  • Add 4 cups of cold water
  • Add lime juice
  • Stir well to combine the flavors
  • Sweeten and serve of ice

Tips: (Pulp is available in the freezer section of your local grocery store or online). You may want to squeeze passionfruit pulp through a strainer if there are seeds.
